What You’re In For…
What you’re going to find here is a no holds barred look at publishing from the agenting side. Some things we’ll be learning together and sometimes I’ll just be spewing what I know, but it will always be informative to your inner booklover/writer.Also, prepare yourself for typos! I’m not getting paid to do this, so it’s not going to be perfect. Be so kind as to save the snarky comments please.
Who am I?
I am an unabashed booklover from conception and current Agent at Objective Entertainment, a full service multimedia Literary and Production Company. Though my company dabbles mostly in non-fiction, we represent authors in virtually every genre. We currently represent over 100 celebrities, musicians, authors and bestselling writers.

Elizabeth - I’ve been writing my novel (crime thriller) for what seems like 100 years and am now concentrating on marketing. You and other agents/editors who blog have “opened the doors” of the publishing world for me, and I just want you to know you’re appreciated. I’m still learning blogging etiquette and procedures so I’m not sure this is necessary, but I just wanted you to know I’m putting a link for Glorious Paper on my brand new Wredheaded Writer blog.
Keep it up for all us newbies. Dixon
Write on Dixon. I’m happy to share all I know on this tough business of ours! Feel free to link away!

I just discovered this blog–very cool!
And thanks for the Litmatch link, I hadn’t heard of them before.
Enjoy Sleuthfest. I’m jealous; I’ll be in Denver for Left coast Crime, which promises to be cold…
You’re very welcome! All the links are very cool, but I’m especially excited about being a featured blog on agentquery.com!
Elizabeth, a professional, insider’s opinion, if you please:
I’ve just posted my new novel, a supernatural mystery, on my blog in its entirety. Under the terms of Creative Commons, no one allowed to reproduce the book commercially, etc. My question: by publishing the book virtually have I damaged or enhanced the chances of a traditional publisher taking the novel on? Also, I’ve received requests from some readers to produce a physical book through lulu.com or some similar enterprise. I wanted to create a “buzz” by doing an e-version of the book but I’d rather have a trad press hear about the book and want to take it on than get involved with publishing a print version myself (too much work and time)…
I’ve just discovered your blog thanks to Guppies. A big merci for doing it, and being so upfront about sharing your insider knowledge with us. I too have been an unabashed book lover since conception. I did find it hard to read in the dark, tho. You too? Anyway, I’ve just finished my first book in a series of cozies and wondered if you’d like to take a quick peek at it? It’s something that has a built-in $$ market already–since it’s aimed at baby boomers, who have plenty of bucks and don’t mind spending them. This book is called “Retirement Can Be Murder.” Thanks in advance. Susan
Welcome Susan! This isn’t the best place to query me. You should email your letter to my company email.
Will do, she said bravely. Thanks for the quick response!
I would like to know how long is the wait after you submit your query letter and 50 pages of you manuscript?
How long does it take for your query letter an manuscript to be looked @ from query agents?
